I am an artist living and working on Horomaka, Banks Peninsula, Aotearoa, New Zealand.
My artistic concepts explore the landscape around me in its past and present form, human impacts on the land and environment, our perception of place and belonging. I research historical narratives, stories forgotten or little known and endeavour to bring them to light.
I am deeply interested in humanity, the relationship we have with place, culture and the environment. Human rights and social issues are important for me to process and communicate through art.
Drawing is paramount in my practice. Through investigative ideas in drawing I explore my subjects. I work in a wide variety of practices, the subject and research process often dictating where my concept may end up. Primarily etching which I enjoy pushing beyond limited edition printmaking into three dimensional endpoints for plates becoming conceptual jewellery, ornament or sculpture. I am passionate about works on paper and celebrate the tradition of this within my work but also aim to push the limitations or expectations of these mediums.
